Workshop Summary
In this one-hour workshop with Q&A, expert trainers from the Creative Education Foundation (CEF) will give you tips and tools for solving problems faster and more deliberately. CEF Trainers will introduce the four stages of the Creative Problem Solving process (CPS) that can help you take purposeful steps towards resolving challenges or moving ideas and opportunities into action.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the following two funds—Student and Emerging Professionals Scholarship Fund and the Long Term Success Endowment (LTSE).
About the Presenters
Beth Slazak

Beth Slazak is a seasoned CPS and Improv facilitator and trainer with a teaching background, who currently manages CEF’s programs, educational initiatives, and events. Beth earned a MS from the International Center for Studies in Creativity at Buffalo State College. Beth has trained teachers and business professionals at conferences around the world including: MindCamp, Toronto, Canada; CREA, Sestri Levanti, Italy; Florida Creativity Conference, Sarasota, FL; Creativity Expert Exchange, Buffalo, NY; Next Idea Conference, Litchfield, CT; Geneva Creativity Center, Batavia, NY; and CPSI, Buffalo, NY. She is trained in CPS, Applied Improv, Faith and Creativity, Resiliency Training, Growth Mindset Training, Play and Creativity, Humor in the Workplace, Improv for the At-Risk Student. |
Missy Carvin

Missy Carvin is the President of New Directions Consulting, a full-service market research and innovation solutions supplier, who assists in managing CEF’s programs, educational initiatives, and events. She works with professionals in agencies and client-side companies who are in marketing, consumer insights, strategy, branding, and advertising. Missy is a frequent speaker at the Creative Problem Solving Institute (CPSI), Florida Creativity Conference (FCC), MindCamp and the Qualitative Research Consultants Association (QRCA) annual conference. Missy applies her strengths of Activator, Woo, Communication, Strategy, and Positivity to her approach to business, parenting, and life in general. |
About the Creative Education Foundation
In 1954, Alex Osborn, one of the original “Mad Men” who coined the term “brainstorming”, established the
Creative Education Foundation (CEF). Osborn asserted that everyone is creative, and that creativity can be taught. In 1955, Sidney J. Parnes joined Alex and together they developed the Creative Problem Solving process (CPS) and held the first Creative Problem Solving Institute (CPSI). With CEF and CPS training, Alex and Sid launched the first global creativity movement.
The Creative Education Foundation's mission is to spark personal and professional transformation by empowering people with the skill set, tool set, and mindset of deliberate creativity. CEF’s primary programs are the
Creative Problem Solving Institute (CPSI), a four-day creativity conference that welcomes more than 400 people from around the world annually; Creative Problem Solving Professional Development training for teachers and other professionals; the Journal of Creative Behavior, the first and longest running creativity journal; the Sidney J. Parnes Global Fellowship; and the Ruth B. Noller Grant Award.
