Biographical Statement​


Susan Hooge is a Senior Director of Managed Service at Sensory Spectrum, Inc., a privately held, globally recognized leader in sensory evaluation and consumer science. Susan joined Sensory Spectrum in January 2022 and has accountability for the Managed Service department. In her role, Susan works with her teams to deliver high-quality sensory services and strategic thought leadership to their clients.
Prior to joining Sensory Spectrum, Susan worked at General Mills for 23 years. While at General Mills, she held a variety of positions with increasing responsibility from Sensory Quality Engineer to Sensory Scientist and Global Sensory Manager. In her last role, Susan developed effective global sensory programs, mentoring and coaching 14 team members on technical and business skills to deliver world-class business support.  

Susan is actively involved in ASTM- E18 Sensory Evaluation, where she has served as Main Committee Chairperson and Task Group Chairperson for Testing with Children and Minors. She is also a founding member of the Society of Sensory Professionals and continues to remain active within the organization. 

Susan received her BS in Food Science and Human Nutrition from University of Missouri in 1998 and MS in Food Science- Sensory Science emphasis from Kansas State University in 2008.​
