All abstract presenters will present their abstracts virtually via the ePoster tool for posters and pre-recorded videos for oral presentations. Specific guidelines will be provided to all presenters directly via email. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact ssp@scisoc.org.
On behalf of the Society of Sensory Professionals, the Scientific Committee invites interested scientists to submit abstracts for oral presentations, chaired technical workshops, and posters. The conference theme is 20/20 Vision & Beyond and the Scientific Committee seeks to explore the full potential of the future of the sensory field.
The Society of Sensory Professionals strongly values high-quality scientific theory and methodology; abstracts in all presentation categories will be selected accordingly.
Abstract submissions will be evaluated by members of the Scientific and Conference Organizing Committee.
Abstract and Workshop Proposal Submission is Closed.
Submission Requirements for Oral Presentations

- The 2020 conference will have three oral presentation sessions: two for professionals and experts in the field and one for student presenters. Oral presenters will be selected based on abstract submissions.

- Originality/novelty and scientific/strategic merit
- Usefulness to the conference participants
The Scientific Committee encourages scientific posters to utilize the Better Scientific Poster template. (Additional information on format coming soon). Traditional scientific poster presentations are also welcome.
Workshop and Learn-shop Guidelines
Submission for workshops at the 2020 SSP will be accepted in order to have a chance to get a more in-depth perspective of a topic. We have added a further stream of Workshops to the program and included a new dimension with a ‘Learn-shop’ presentation format. This is similar to a workshop—facilitated by academic and industry leaders. These educational and engaging interactive Learn-shops will have typically fewer participants than regular Workshops and will provide a chance to contribute, learn and discuss about new approaches and techniques in consumer and sensory science in smaller groups. Hands-on activities using product samples, via cell phones and/or questionnaires are highly encouraged. A high level of audience engagement and feedback opportunities are preferred.
Workshop submissions will be judged based on the following criteria:
- Concurrence with the objectives and themes of the conference.
- Originality and scientific/strategic merit.
- Usefulness to the conference participants.
- Inclusion of interaction between facilitators and workshop participants.
- Potential for success and likelihood of attendance.
In addition:
- Workshop proposals must present novel technical information with supporting data and proposed or proven applications.
- Workshops and Learn-shops are 60 minutes in length.
- Submissions should be thorough and include as many specific details as possible.
- Workshops that emphasize interaction between presenters and participants is preferred.
- Presentations should strive to construct activities that allow every attendee to participate.
- Submissions that appear to be advertisements for proprietary products or services will not be accepted. Presentations that include advertisements for proprietary products or services are not appropriate.
- Submission deadline is closed.
